Laura Rojas is an Infection Biologist specialized mainly in Molecular Epidemiology and Microbiology. Laura graduated from the Biotechnology engineering program from Tecnologico de Monterrey, and later she pursued a masters degree in Infection Biology in Medical Sciences from Uppsala University in a joint program between Sweden’s Public Health Agency and the National Veterinary Institute of Sweden.

Currently, she is finishing her doctoral dissertation in Microbiology at Uppsala University, focusing on epigenetics and cell differentiation during the life cycle of the gastrointestinal parasite Giardia intestinalis.

Laura has completed research internships in Mexican Institutions such as the Children’s Hospital “Federico Gomez” in Mexico City, and Michoacan’s Public Health Laboratory. Her global health experience includes biomedical training in Bangladesh and Ghana, as well as her Swedish graduate experience.
